Beating the Frost | Fall Gardening Wisconsin Zone 5 | November Tour

It's time for another fall garden tour! We have hit the beginning of November. That is hard enough to believe, but the fact that we still have so many varieties of vegetables growing and thriving in our outdoor garden is extra special to us this year.

We have already had a few weeks where the weather was cold enough to bring frost at night, but because we have planted cold hardy vegetables like kale, kohlrabi, beets, radishes, broccoli, cauliflower, sugar snap peas, and more, the garden is still thriving.

This means that we can expect to harvest even more over the next few weeks and preserve it for the impending winter. It is a great feeling to know that we will have even more to harvest and eat as we move ever further toward food freedom.

This is where planning comes into play. If you want to really extend out the growing season, planting the right vegetables and then taking steps to protect them are essential.
