Modern Sound Collective (MSC) is a Toronto-based organization committed to building community and uplifting emerging choral artists. MSC aims to foster a nurturing community that inspires young artists through accessible opportunities for growth and collaboration, and to share their love of contemporary choral music through sincere and passionate performances.
Datsuzoku is MSC’s premier ensemble for young adult singers, offering a high-level, socially connected, and creatively inspiring choral experience. Rooted in excellence, experimentation, skill development, and community, Datsuzoku embodies its namesake - drawn from the Japanese aesthetic concept meaning “a break from the ordinary” - by defying traditional expectations of choral music spaces and embracing a human-first philosophy of music making.
