A walk to Tilicho Lake and Mesokanto Pass, NEPAL - 2017 • Day 19-21

I crossed Kang-La Pass from Naar-Phu Valley down to Ngawal near Manang village. It was the first day of the festive season in Nepal, Dashain and Tihar.

On this section of the trek, I am now in the centre of Manang District. I walked to Manang slowly due to the extreme blisters I had accumulated from long-hours of walking in the last 18 days.

I get as much experience I can from the local people about the Mesokanto Pass, over Tilicho Lake towards Jomsom. There is no fear or doubts in my mind anymore. I am confident I would make it safe the next day. Cross the pass and arrive Jomsom the same day.

Seeing the glacial lake of Tilicho was such an over-whelming feeling. The lake was at an elevation of 4900m. Deep blue in colour, I was awed by its beauty in the cold calling of the night.

I knew a little about Mesokanto Pass during my planning phase so my initial plan was to reach the lake and get back down to Khangsar and up towards Thorang-La, as done by many trekkers. While I was in Manaslu section, I heard more about Mesokanto Pass. I knew it feasible this time of the year. It would also save me 2-3 days.

The only problem. I was alone. It didn't bothered me. I was long zoned-out.

I had wanted to trek across Nepal since the days I went for my first trek in Langtang Valley and Gosaikund. As I did more studies on walks across the country, I came across the Great Himalayan Trail and it had been stuck in my mind ever since, 2015.

As I did more visual research, it was not possible for me to find a good record of somebody who had done it. I had read alot of journals and stories but videos were very hard to find.

My plan was to film as much as possible with regard to my safety on the trail as I would be alone most of the time. I didn't know how I would make the story but filming the most out of the trail was my only idea. I wanted to document the trek.

The idea of narrating came during the editing process...

One hell of a journey.
