And today is the birthday of our dearest and sweetest Irene Daye. Contrary to what we thought, Charlie Spivak was not her first husband, her first husband was Edward Cornelius (and when she was married to him, she retired from music) but when he sadly passed away, she started singing again (she was be a singer in Gene Krupa's orchestra). And when she returned to singing, she was a vocalist in the orchestra of our beloved and incredible Charlie Spivak, married Charlie Spivak in 1950 and for the second time abandoned her singing career to become his manager, a role she held until her death in 1971. She is possibly best known for the song "Drum Boogie" by Krupa, but in that song "Accentuate The Positive" her singing is phenomenal And we believe that she and the entire orchestra are with the Mr. In-Between....
