The Estes Park Tramway is a classic Heron tram built in 1955. It starts at the base of Estes Park and ends on Prospect Mountain, adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park. Each of the two tram cars holds 8-10 people, despite being originally designed for 12 people. There are no towers throughout its 2640-foot length, climbing 1100 vertical feet in just over three minutes. The maximum speed is 1400 fpm, but it may have been running a little bit slower because of some mild winds at the top.
