Hey everyone! In this video, I am going to teach you how to set up and install custom quad projectors into a 2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe. There is a lot of information you will need to know so, please pay close attention. I did my best to capture everything on film.
Here are the TIME STAMPS for each part in case you want to go back and re watch certain parts:
Intro: 0:00 - 0:28
Parts: 0:28 - 1:25
Setup Projectors into stock reflectors 1:26 - 5:29
Choosing the right projector 5:29 - 6:01
Shrouds & problems 6:01 - 9:38
Mounting Shrouds + Modifying housing 9:38 - 9:53
Wiring 9:53 - 14:31
Cutting holes in lens cap and installing bulbs 14:31 - 16:10
Final project - with pictures
Night time driving test: 16:10 - 16:59
This install took me awhile to do because there was so much customization. I already had a spare set of headlamps so I was able to take my time with this retrofit. I would at least plan for a weekend to finish this project. Don't ask me how many hours this took because I do not know, but feel free to ask me any other questions that I haven't covered or haven't covered in depth. I will link other videos that I found helpful during this install.

Bulb and Ballast Info:
Using a 50W ballast instead of a 35W, will produce more light output, but will reduce the lifespan of the bulbs.
I also refinished my plastic lens (aka the plastic piece that covers the projectors and housing). My lens were pretty beat up and after sanding, compounding, and polishing, the lens caps weren't as clear as id imagine. So, if you have crystal clear lens caps, your headlights will be brighter than mine. Also, be carefully not to scratch the inside of the plastic lens caps because you will fuck up your lens and it is near impossible to remove the damage caused by the scratches (I know this because I was not careful and scratched the shit out of mine while cleaning. Always use a microfiber towel).
**In case anyone was wondering, you can't buy the lens caps separately. However, the shitty headlamps with the LEDS that you can find on Ebay, those lens caps will fit on the OEM headlamps. Eventually, I switched out the lens caps (which isn't shown in this video). **
Here is the part list that I bought from TheRetrofitSource.com
2 x 50W: Morimoto XB55 Computer
2 x 35W: Morimoto XB35 Computer
2 x D2S 3.0: (Round Lens/LHD)
2 x Morimoto Mini H1 LHD (7.0)
2 x Mini Gatling Gun Shrouds
3 x Progresso Soup Cans
2 x AMP to D2S Ballast Adapters (straight)
2 x Morimoto XB Igniter (AMP)
2 x D2S: Osram Xenarc 66240 CBI (5500K)
2 x H1: XB 3000K
2 x HD Relay: 9005/9006/9012/H10
2 x H4 solenoid connectors
1 x Splitter: 9005 Male to 9005/9006 Female
1 x Adapter: Matsushita Male to 9006 Female
1 x Black: RetroRubber
You do not have to use the same set up as me and/or choice of bulbs. If you want to minimize cutting shrouds, purchase a smaller lens for the top (e.g. mini H1). Even though it is a smaller lens, you will have much greater light coverage than the OEM D2R's. Just make sure that the projectors you purchase will fit in the housing. TRS has great customer service and are willing to help customize your order. I do not work for them, or progresso; I just had a great experience.
Pro Tip:
D2R and D2S bulbs ARE NOT THE SAME!. D2R bulbs are for headlamps that use reflectors (aka the 2004 G35). The D2R bulbs have a strip of film on the bulb to reduce the light output in order to NOT BLIND ONCOMING TRAFFIC. D2S bulbs are only for PROJECTORS. Don't be a rascal and put D2S bulbs in a reflector headlamp made for D2R bulbs. :)
FINAL THOUGHTS
Do not expect to have great side to side coverage from this retrofit (i.e. the beam panning out far to each side as you would see on BMW's, Mercedes, etc). The coupe headlamps restrict most of that light because they sit a little further back in the housing. Furthermore, I don't know a way to push the projectors closer up to the plastic lens, and if so, I don't know if that will even make a difference.

I hope everyone who tries this retrofit has great success!
