dark cloud is such a classic .

imagine the characters could jump ,
and attack faster than the monsters ,
you would be in hack and slash heaven !
instead of 20 monsters per dungeon map ,
just make 50 of them ,
and make them respawn every so often !

why can't we have that ?
why do the monsters need to be similar to the character ?
in old games ,
on harder difficulty settings ,
monster AI moved 250% the speed of the character ,
look at Star Craft AI hardcore setting,
that shit isn't effected by fog of war ,
its programming already knows where everything on the map is ,
at all times ,
it knows where you are ,
when you move in the dark .
it attacks you as you conduct a sneak attack .

so why can't we have an easy mode game ,
where the character is over powered ?

take Morrowind for example ,
casting magic is slow to save the engine CPU ,
and it's also easier to manage yourself in a slower fight ,
but at the end of the game ,
why can't my character cast spells like a machine gun ?
the option is avoided .
the option is never programmed .

its like some unwritten rule programmers stick to these days .
the character is never Overpowered .


its not like you're making a GTA mod ,
where you gun down 1000 people in 9 in-game hours .
we have zombie hoard killing games .
we have monster killing games .

so why can't we revisit on classics .
and remaster them into open world games ?
you have it right there .

but instead we get a 250GB Call Of Duty game ,
Dark Cloud is 4GB .

it wouldn't be more than 10GB to make it open world .

so why can't we 20 years later ?
what's taking so long ?

we're using "alternative methods"
that are actually experimental ,
and after years and years and decades ,
the results show the method doesn't work beyond theoretical ,
and yet we continue to waste reality ,
pursuing this fruitless endeavor .

why ?

well i'm gonna stick to the old stuff .
i'm absolutely sick of all the lag .
load the interface , load the network ,
download the update , have the game be slow and need to buffer .


modern games can't design a menu btw
the menu is filled with subliminal symbolism,
