Jack's entire mission, which must be completed in a matter of days, is to find Vanessa and convince her to leave with him, a task complicated by his fraught relationship with her, the administrative bureaucracy of the Extraplanetary Emigration office, and the immediate return to the criminal underworld and old debts he desperately sought to escape.

This lo-fi science fiction entry, consciously avoids expensive spectacle by keeping the "fantastical" elements —the shuttles, the off-world colonies— as a distant, almost metaphorical background. The core sci-fi element of a dying Earth serves primarily as a catalyst for sociological speculation on class, bureaucracy, and survival.
