Marcelle Meyer French female pianist. Born May 22, 1897. Died November 17, 1958.
She was active as a pianist in the group of composers called "Les Six". She was born in Lille, France. She started learning piano from her older sister Germaine from the age of five, and in 1911, at the age of 14, she entered the Conservatoire de Paris, where she studied under Alfred Cortot and Marguerite Long, and won the Premier Prix at the age of 16. She studied Ravel and Spanish composers under Ricardo Viñes. She met Debussy at the premiere of Satie's "Parade" in 1917, and taught him how to play Debussy's preludes. Meyer became Satie's favorite pianist, and participated in the premieres and recordings of Satie's other works. She also premiered Francis Poulenc's "Sonata for Piano for Four Hands". In the early 1920s, he also performed with Darius Milhaud and Stravinsky. In 1922, the painter Jacques-Émile Blanche painted Marcel Meyer, along with the composer group Les Six (Georges Auric, Louis Durey, Arthur Honegger, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc, Germaine Tailleferre), and Jean Cocteau. He died in Paris on November 17, 1958, at the age of 61, after suffering a heart attack while playing his sister's piano.

Marcelle Meyer (マルセル・メイエ) フランスの女性ピアニスト。1897年5月22日生まれ。1958年11月17日没。
「Les Six」と呼ばれる作曲家グループのピアニストとして活躍した。フランスのリールで生まれた。5歳の頃から姉のジェルメーヌにピアノを教わり、1911年、14歳でパリ国立高等音楽院に入学し、アルフレッド・コルトーとマルグリット・ロンに師事し、16歳で「プルミエ・プリ」を受賞した。リカルド・ビニェスにラヴェルやスペインの作曲家を学んだ。1917年にサティの『パレード』を初演した際に出会ったドビュッシーには、彼の前奏曲の演奏法を指導した。メイエは、サティのお気に入りのピアニストとなり、サティの他の作品の初演やレコーディングにも参加している。またフランシス・プーランクの「四手ピアノのためのソナタ」を初演した。1920年代初頭には、ダリウス・ミヨーやストラヴィンスキーとも共演している。1922年、画家のジャック・エミール・ブランシュは、ジョルジュ・オーリック、ルイ・デュレイ、アルトゥール・オネゲル、ダリウス・ミヨー、フランシス・プーランク、ジェルメーヌ・タイユフェールからなる作曲家グループ「Les Six」、ジャン・コクトーとともに、マルセル・メイヤーを描いた絵を残している。1958年11月17日、姉のピアノを弾いているときに心臓発作を起こし、61歳でパリで亡くなった。
