Climbing Khaliya Top is a must-do adventure in Munsiyari | Oursoulfultravel

We did the Khaliya Top trek in June, right at the start of the monsoon, and the experience was quite different from what we expected. At first, the authorities didn’t allow us to go because the weather wasn’t great—there were heavy clouds, and they warned us about a lot of leeches on the trail.
We still thought of giving it a try and started the trek. But halfway through, we realised they were right. There were leeches everywhere, and the views were completely covered by clouds, so we couldn’t see anything. At that point, we decided it was better to return.
Even though we didn’t make it to the top, we’re still glad we went. At least we got to experience a proper jungle trek, and that itself was fun in its own way.
If you’re planning to do the Khaliya Top trek, avoid coming in the monsoon. You’ll enjoy it much more in clear weather.
