I was starting to have some issues with my door's...it was progressively getting worse until it became a total annoyance. I found a few issues and after a series of events, it didn't take long to determine my course of action.
The Door ajar switches are actually adjustable but I would not mess with the switch if the repair I used works. Reason is that I don't like to mess with 25 year old plastic parts any more than I need to. If a push-in plastic fastener was my solution, I see absolutely no harm being done to the switch or the car. This was a simple, cheap and easy solution!!!

Parts:
Dorman "Panel Retainers": Part# 963-058 ($4.00)
Rubber Washers: 5/16 ID x 3/4 OD x 1/16 thick ($0.49)
The Dorman retainers are not an exact replacement, they are a generic plug that just happens to fit in the hole. i didn't see the need to research and buy GM retainers (however Dorman was/is a GM supplier for many parts).
