In this lesson, we learn the coordinates of the unit circle and where those values come from. I start by giving you the key coordinate points on the unit circle, and then I explain how they are derived using the special right triangles (45-45-90 and 30-60-90).
Understanding where these coordinates come from — instead of just memorizing them — makes trigonometry much easier and more intuitive. This lesson connects geometry, triangles, and the unit circle so you can see how everything fits together.
In this video, you’ll learn:
• The most important coordinates on the unit circle
• How 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 triangles generate those values
• Why the x-coordinate corresponds to cosine and the y-coordinate corresponds to sine
• How the unit circle supports evaluating trig functions and exact values
This lesson is part of my Precalculus / Trigonometry series and is designed to build a strong foundation for future trig topics like reference angles and trig identities.
