I highly discourage ANYONE from removing the knob from the shifter assembly. It will likely damage the knob and ball base clip.
In this video I removed the manual shift knob from a Volvo 850. I'm sure this process is the same for the S70, V70, etc., P80 Volvo's with a manual transmission shifter.
