No-Confidence Threat Looms Over President Boko as Opposition Turns Up Heat

Botswana’s political temperature is rising as the opposition moves closer to tabling a motion of no confidence against President Duma Boko — just months into the UDC administration.

BDP figures say groundwork is already underway to challenge the President in Parliament, accusing the government of failing to deliver on early promises and warning that Batswana may be forced back to the polls as early as 2027.

The escalating confrontation comes as President Boko makes a surprise visit to *Princess Marina Hospital*, describing the conditions he found as “deeply saddening and disturbing,” and pledging urgent reforms to fix the ailing health system.

While the President says immediate action is being taken, the opposition remains unconvinced, accusing government leaders of only now discovering problems that patients and doctors have endured for years.

At the same time, the *BDP is fighting its own battles*, dismissing reports of internal divisions and reaffirming unity behind its current leadership.

With *Parliament set to resume*, pressure is now building on multiple fronts — from political rivals, public service delivery failures, and an increasingly impatient electorate.
