L'Ara hyacinthe (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus) est une espèce d'oiseau appartenant à la famille des Psittacidae. Il est le plus grand de tous les psittacidés, sa taille atteint 1 m à l'âge adulte. Plumage bleu-cobalt, zone nue jaune autour de l'œil et de la mâchoire inférieure du bec. Il fait l'objet d'un programme de multiplication en captivité (plus d'informations sur le lien Red List IUCN, pour plus de clarté sur l'état des populations sud américaines. Plusieurs programmes sont en cours pour tenter de préserver l'espèce et la population des Ara hyacinthes.
