Alleycat (Persona 5) || Chill Blues Cover by Ro Panuganti

Alleycat meets Purple Rain meets Little Wing meets Tender Surrender

Among the stellar tracks I fell for immediately in Persona 5 is Alleycat, a tune that has a bit of cheesy organ, gorgeous electric piano chords and vibrato, and of course some crinkly stratty vibes. I knew months ago that I would love to draw inspiration from Prince's magnum opus "Purple Rain" and just had to figure out how to meld it just right. With some terrible weather, help from my friend BlueStarMako (www.twitter.com/BlueStarMako)'s cat Carolina, and a lot of simple delays I think I got as close to my idea as possible! As of 2020 we did lose her, but I'm so happy to have known her and gotten some video playing with her too.

You'll notice that like my "Beneath the Mask" cover with David Russell, who snuck into here on piano a little, I filmed the biggest solos live to maximize the emotional value of the solo and video! I know it might be sloppier or less "metal" for some of you but I really enjoyed the kind of continuity you only get from recording long takes! I'm also posting this from Japan, as I'll be taking my first long vacation back to Tokyo with friends! See you all in a few weeks.
