His path to success is complicated by his relationships with two very different women: Jehu, a fiery saloon girl played by Lee Remick, and Joyce, the sophisticated daughter of a wealthy rancher, portrayed by Patricia Owens. Lat’s struggles with morality, ambition, and loyalty test his character as he navigates the brutal realities of the frontier and the complexities of social climbing.
