Dudley Savage "As Prescribed" Sunday the 14th September 1975. This Programme also features the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band. To end this, my small tribute to Dudley Savage and the very popular "As Prescribed" BBC radio programme that ran for many years and along with the two other videos I have posted already, to end for the moment in time I do have more of these old "As Prescribed" radio programmes. I have uploaded this programme from 1975. Taken from a very old damaged cassette tape. By this time, "As Prescribed" Was going out nationwide all over the UK on BBC Radio 2 on Sunday mornings, This has been a true labour of love having to take the tape out of the old cassette case, join a few breaks and then refit this in a new a cassette case. I did start to film all of this, but for starters, it all took too long, and the air got quite blue at times! When all was done, the tape still did not play that well! More strong words! So I then, in the end, I adapted an old cassette player to try to make it play better. The only trouble being I had to hold my finger steady on one part for the whole recording onto the computer. Move it a fraction, and the tape speed slowed down! I think it took something like four goes and many hours, but I'm so pleased with the overall end results? And likewise, I hope you all think this was a worthwhile exercise in saving this radio programme

Youtube is a funny set up I sometimes think! Particularly if you upload music! And even more what I would call specialist music like theatre organ recordings. Now go and restore a rusty old spanner with no talking, and you could get well over millions of views or have a rant about your countries political situation and likewise see thousands of views. Often all you get with the more specialist music is a copyright strike! But all that aside, I do think it is important that old radio programmes like this are remembered. We can't live in the past for sure, but without the past, we would not have a future. So please, as always, please do like or comment. It is so much appreciated for sure. Dudley Savage gave immense pleasure and happiness to so many through these BBC "As Prescribed" programmes and his organ playing at cinemas and the many organ concerts he gave in a long career a true gentleman of the cinema organ world for sure.
