bitten um - to ask (Der Bettler bittet um ein bisschen Geld.)
sich bemühen um - to try hard (Er bemüht sich nach seinem Abschluß um einen Job.)
sich kümmern um - to look after (Der große Bruder kümmert sich oft um seinen kleinen Bruder.)
jemanden beneiden um - to envy (Ich beneide sie um ihre glückliche Partnerschaft.)
Angst haben um (+Person) - to be afraid of (Er hat immer Angst um ihren Sohn, wenn er fliegt.)
sich sorgen (machen) um - to worry about (Ich mache mir Sorgen um ihn. Er ist wirklich krank.)
