What To Do When PIP Says Your Condition Is Not Severe Enough

PIP is not based on how severe your diagnosis is. It is based on how your condition affects the 12 daily living and mobility activities and whether you can do them safely, reliably and repeatedly.
.
Here’s what to do next:
.
Get your PA4 report.
Call the DWP and ask for the PA4 assessment report.
This shows exactly why they said your condition isn’t severe and which descriptors they used.
.
Highlight every factual error.
Incorrect observations, things you never said, or assumptions like “looked well on the call” are grounds for challenge.
Write these down. They go into your Mandatory Reconsideration.
.
Match the errors to the law.
If you cannot do an activity safely, repeatedly, within a reasonable time, or to an acceptable standard, you meet the PIP reliability test.
Even if you can physically do a task, if you cannot do it reliably, you score points.
.
Rewrite your difficulties using the reliability test.
Example:
“I can prepare food only with supervision. Without help, I forget steps and risk burning myself. I cannot complete this task safely or repeatedly.”
This is the language PIP decision makers are trained to understand.
.
Submit a calm, clear Mandatory Reconsideration.
Stick to evidence, examples, and the descriptors. Avoid emotion.
Most successful MRs are simple, structured, and based on correcting the PA4 errors.
