I was impressed with this motor out of the box and on the water. I have already purchased another one. This is an excellent alternative to brand name trolling motors to save a little money. In my case I need more than one; and I'll save $40 or more on each one I purchase. I have been a life-long Minn Kota fan but when I had 3 older units fail in the same calendar year we decided to try something else and couldn't really afford to replace them all with Minn Kota brand as quickly as I needed to. So, is it really better than Minn Kota? That remains to be seen but I don't expect it to
