React Strict DOM (RSD) is poised to change how we build cross-platform. Nicolas Gallagher (Meta) explains its origin, starting with React Native Web, which he created not to run native apps, but to fix web's unpredictable styling with RN's encapsulation.
Now, RSD provides a shared, web-aligned syntax. He explains how it works:
➡️ On the web: It's a zero-overhead Babel plugin that flattens RSD components directly to HTML.
➡️ On native: It uses RN's New Architecture and a growing list of DOM APIs.
The goal is to write a component library once that runs on both platforms, giving web code the "option value" of running on native.
