ONKALO's new personnel elevator is now in use - watch the quickly journey to the bottom

Even though there is a total vertical distance of 450 meters to ONKALO's bottom, the brand-new elevator covers that in just over a minute.
The elevator's travel speed, eight meters per second (29 km/h), also makes it the fastest elevator currently in customer use in Finland.
The elevator significantly saves commuting time for many, as a one-way car journey to ONKALO takes about 20 minutes.
Posiva's Communications Manager, Pasi Tuohimaa, tested the newcomer with Project Manager Jarno Säippä.

Vaikka ONKALOn pohjalle onkin pystysuunnassa matkaa kokonaista 450 metriä, upouusi hissi taittaa tuon reilussa minuutissa.
Hissin kulkunopeus, kahdeksan metriä sekunnissa (29 km/h) tekee hissistä samalla myös Suomen nopeimman asiakaskäytössä olevan hissin.
Monen työmatka-aikaa hissi säästää varsin kivasti, sillä autolla yhdensuuntainen matka alas ONKALOon kestää noin 20 minuuttia.
Posivan viestintäpäällikkö Pasi Tuohimaa kävi koeajamassa tulokkaan projektipäällikkö Jarno Säipän kanssa.
