Our Japan Earthquake Experience, Exploring Shibuya Crossing, Meiji Shrine on New Years Day - Vlog

Have you ever experienced an earthquake? How big was it and were you scared? 🫨


It’s day two in Tokyo, Japan aka New Years Day, which is the day the 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit. Luckily we are all safe and sound 🥰

In this video, we take a gander around Shibuya, which was unusually empty. For a disctrict know for it’s hustle and bustle, this was definitely a unique experience. Then we went to the Meiji-Jingu shrine along with the entire population of Tokyo…


It was PACKED.


But it was such a cool experience getting to visit the shrines on the most popular day to go—New Years.

We went for lunch in Shinjuku and got to try Japanese curry which really warmed us up on this cold day. After lunch, we ventured back to our hotel for a little siesta when the earthquake graced us with her presence. We were safe in our hotel room but being 32 floors high was not exactly a relaxing experience. We made the best of it by chatting with the other panicked tourists in the lobby!

With not many businesses open due to the holiday, we had to stick to chain restaurants today, which was still just as delicious. We had sushi for dinner and then called it a night.
