Hey everyone, it’s Matt here. Today, I want to talk about what to do when your Shure mic light is red.

This can be super annoying, especially if it happens right before you're about to record. Sometimes the light is just static red, and other times it flashes.

I’ve experienced this myself, and I know how frustrating it can be. So, what’s the solution?

First off, I’m not entirely sure why this happens, but it seems to occur pretty frequently. The good news is that fixing it is quite simple.

All you need to do is open the Motive software. If you have a Shure mic, you probably already have this software on your device.

Once you open the software, look for the Motive Mix option. I have it on my Launchpad, but it might show up differently for you.

When you open it, you’ll notice that if your mic is red, it usually indicates that it’s muted. It will display as red and say “muted” on the screen.

To fix this, you need to click the unmute button. Unfortunately, I can’t show you that right now because I’m recording, but it should be pretty straightforward.

Once you click unmute, the light will change to gray, and you’ll have the option to mute it manually if needed. Now, I can’t explain why the mic goes muted randomly.

It’s something I’ve been dealing with, and I’ve updated the Motive Mix software regularly, but the issue persists. I’m hoping that future firmware updates will resolve this problem.
