70 years on from victory for Osprey No 1 sailed by the designer Ian Proctor in the Queen Elizabeth II coronation round the Isle of Wight dinghy race in 1953, 15 fabulous Osprey sailing dinghies again raced around The Island.
It was a glorious sail starting and finishing at Lymington, heading past Hurst Castle, around the spectacular Needles and encountering tricky conditions off St Cat's. The fleet dropped kites at Bembridge Ledge then headed back up the Solent, most dodging the Ryde-Southsea hovercraft. Then a blast in a freshening breeze past Cowes to the line with some very close finishes. A fantastic day on the water.
