The central theme of the Kohbar painting is love and prosperity.
Originally the painting depictes a symbolic image of the lotus, the bamboo grove, fishes, birds and snakes in union. These images represents fertility and love of life.

Brief Knowledge about Madhubani/Mithila Painting
Madhubani, or Mithila, painting is a folk painting of northern India. It is mostly practiced by women in the villages who have passed this art to their daughters through multiple generations. The area of Mithila/Madhubani lies near the border of India and Nepal and It is also the birthplace of Sita, the central character in Ramayana.
