Why 'Swiss Made' is on American Watches | Waltham Restoration & History

My largest video to date takes a look at the restoration of a 1960s Waltham that turns out not really to be a Waltham at all. We'll also be restoring a vintage Czech watch cleaning machine and adding some modern electronics. It's a wild ride, and it's taken me two months to complete. I hope you enjoy it.

The history of the Waltham Watch Company, which produced 40 million time pieces and precision instruments between 1850 and 1957, is not as well known as it should be. Until the mid-19th century, watch parts were made for individual watches rather than a series of watches in different locations – a process that was imprecise, time-consuming, and expensive. As a result, only the wealthy could afford watches and no two time pieces could be relied on to tell the exact same time. Waltham revolutionized the industry by developing extremely precise machines to produce standardized movement components that were interchangeable.....
