Hi this is Carl the landscape guy and today I would like to introduce a special attachment tool with quick coupler adapter on a 9-ton excavator. Here we see the C-4C compactor made by NPK. This hydraulic attachment is suitable for excavator sizes from 4.5 to 11.5 tonnes and has a weight of 436 kg. The C-4C has up to 3600 kg of dynamic power and a maximum of 2100 rotations per minute at an oil volume of 68 to 83 liters per minute. This compaction force is transferred onto the ground over a 86 x 58 cm bottom plate. This compactor is particularly suitable for use in trenches or on slopes. On steep slopes or dangerous areas the use of conventional manual compactors can be a problem, in which cases the use of the NPK compactor makes perfect sense. The mounted compactor is used here in conjunction with an Oilquick adapter. This Oilquick coupler device enables fully automatic connection of the hydraulic circuits when changing tools at the push of a button from the cab. In this case the Oilquick OQ 45-5 quick coupler is used on a Komatsu PC 88 excavator. This solid adapter made of steel has a weight of 85 kg and supports the use of up to 5 hydraulic couplings. It also has the option of an additional electric coupling. The Oilquick 45-5 is suitable for excavator sizes from 5 to 12 tons. The interlock of the changer is carried out by permanent pressurization with full system pressure. The manufacturer wants to achieve a backlash-free connection with minimum wear and a long lasting of the quick coupler system. The automatic connection of the hydraulic circuits as well as the mechanical locking are carried out by only one cylinder. In practice, the quick coupler is particularly helpful when trenches must be filled or around a new manhole must be compacted with the excavator. Because it can be quickly and easily changed between a bucket and the compactor without wasting time. We mainly use the compactor on the new Komatsu PC88. To operate the Oilquick adapter, the changer must first be unlocked using this red lever. The unlocking is indicated on the display and by a noise. Now the quick coupler can be opened with the upper button on the left joystick. An extended red control pin indicates the opened adapter. The quick coupler with its hydraulic connections should not be placed on the ground without an attachment installed, since the sensitive coupling parts can easily break if they get dirty! Now the attachment can be attached and the changer can be closed and locked again. For the operation of the attachment the working mode ATT / P should be selected on the excavator display. This also activates the speed automatic indicated above. The tilt function is automatically deactivated. Now the hydraulic attachment can be operated. Therefor it is placed on the ground. It is very important not to press too hard. The rubber buffers on the compactor must always be kept in balance. Here you can see it pretty good. That would be too much pressure by the boom... That would be too little obviously. The compactor is placed so that the buffers are in the balance and it can then be operated over the right joystick. A pulling movement can also be performed. It is important not to push too hard. This add-on compactor definitely ensures an increase in efficiency. Especially in the area of ​​trench filling, the device achieves high compaction rates. In addition, this compactor can be operated from a greater distance for more safety on the jobsite. The combination of this powerful Komatsu excavator, combined with the versatility of the Oilquick coupling, and also the ability to compact trenches and backfills, and all this from a safe distance with rapid changes of attachment tools make this combination very interesting and effective.
