Diving Coniston Water | Diving Lake District | Diving from Bailiffs Wood | Dive site guide

This week we head north again to dive Coniston Water in the Lake District of Cumbria. We decided to park at Baliffs Wood (LA218AD) and enter just across the road from the stoney beach.

The dive is great for training for a few reaseons: Chasing depth, a Low Viz dive or looking to dive somewhere new. Alas, marine life is sparce and it is a well know black water site so quickly drops into complete darkness at 20m with only the odd Perch or Stickle Back for company if you loose your buddy!

Parking is free at Baliffs wood National Trust Car Park right next to Conniston Lake. Suitable for 3 or 4 small to medium motorhomes and can be busy during the day due to walkers, Cyclists and people doing water sports, but they leave later on.

Due to the potential depth allowance and reasons for diving this site we both dived with redundancy in gas, computer, mask, cutting tools and most importantly lights. The water wasn't too cold being the middle of September and we pushed ourselves comfortably down to 28m without incident or any compulsery deco.
