Chinese and Japanese giant salamanders are known as the two biggest modern amphibians in the world, with an appearance that looks very Prehistoric.
they are living fossils, belonging to a very ancient group of big amphibians that ranged way back since the jurassic era, despite this, they are very overlooked and rarely recognised in paleo media.
so, we travel back 92-90 million years in late Cretaceous Uzbekistan, where one of their oldest relative is making its journey to find a mate, living under the shadows of Dinosaurs.
it is unfortunate that, despite being very resilient animals for millions of years, giant salamanders have become a very endangered species, and little effort has been done to protect these beautiful and ancient animals.
In a world that has lost many amazing animals, like giant temnospondyl amphibians, it would be a shame to lose these Giant amphibians.
