How Do You Have Good Queer Sex? Liberating sexuality and mental wellbeing with Attitude Magazine
Featuring Dr Ranj Singh, Charlie Craggs, James Barr and Flo Schechter hosted by Cliff Joannou
In a world of hook-ups, ghosting and open relationships, how can we preserve our physical, social and mental wellbeing as we liberate our queer sexuality?
This year, in association with Attitude Magazine, National Student Pride will host an open and inclusive conversation about sex, which aims to debunk the myths surrounding sexual health.
Creator of the world’s first Vagina Museum explained today how, not only do ‘loads of animals do anal,’ but many have same-sex relationships too.
Speaking at a panel discussion on Queer Sex, Flo Schechter told National Student Pride how anal and oral sex are commonplace among primates.
‘Orangutans finger themselves with their feet’, says to the science communicator and comedian, and ‘bonobos do penis fencing’.
In this sex act, the male monkeys hang between two trees and slap their genitalia together, she went on to explain.
The matter came up as part of a discussion about queer sex because it remains a common misconception that same-sex behaviour is only something that happens between humans.
However, many animals have same-sex relationships including well known gay penguins Roy and Silo at New York City's Central Park Zoo.
The panel discussion with part of National Student Pride, which was holding its 15th-anniversary festival at the University of Westminster.
Alongside Flo Schechter was TV personality Dr Ranj Singh, trans activist Charlie Craggs and presenter James Barr, chaired by the editor of Attitude magazine Cliff Joannou.

TV presenter Dr Ranj also opened up about why he felt guilty about his first same-sex experience:
“My first same-sex sexual experience, having been with someone of the opposite sex for a long time prior to that, was riddled with a lot of guilt and a lot of other feelings.
“I think it was more of an exploratory thing. Exploring feelings and exploring something I’d never really had before.”
