Attraverso la lettura e il commento delle fonti storiche e artistiche disponibili viene ricostruita la vita di un Imperatore bizantino, il Basileus, dalla sua nascita nella Stanza di Porpora, fino alla morte dopo un’esistenza di guerre, congiure di palazzo e molteplici atti legislativi. Il tutto senza mai dimenticare di essere allo stesso tempo il rappresentante mistico di Gesù Cristo in terra e il Tredicesimo Apostolo. Anche la moglie dell’Imperatore ricopriva un ruolo molto importante, di cui racconteremo alcune specificità legate alla storia di Bisanzio.

Through the reading and commentary of available historical and artistic sources, the life of a Byzantine emperor, the Basileus, is reconstructed from his birth in the Purple Room to his death after an existence of wars, palace conspiracies and multiple legislative acts. All this without ever forgetting that he was at the same time the mystical representative of Jesus Christ on earth and the Thirteenth Apostle. The emperor's wife also played a very important role, of which we will recount some specifics related to the history of Byzantium.
