在这个温馨美好的圣诞佳节，我们都希望生命可以随着佳节气氛迎来美好而神奇的改变。然而神迹真的是一个幻想而已吗？我们该如何看待神迹呢？透过约翰福音所记载，耶稣基督所行的第一件神迹，我们应该意识到：神迹的主要目的不是为了满足人们各样无止尽的需求；而是作为一个记号，见证基督的荣耀，叫人认识耶稣基督，信靠耶稣基督，得到永恒的新生命。这是我们在这个世界里需要，而且得到的最大神迹：不是短暂的改善，而是永恒新生命的丰盛改变。

During this warm and beautiful Christmas season, we naturally hope that our lives might be transformed in wonderful and even miraculous ways, in harmony with the festive atmosphere. Yet this raises an important question: are miracles merely wishful thinking? How should we rightly understand them? Through the Gospel of John and the first miracle performed by Jesus Christ, we are led to a crucial realization: the primary purpose of miracles is not to satisfy humanity’s endless desires or demands. Rather, miracles function as signs—bearing witness to the glory of Christ, so that people may truly know Jesus Christ, place their trust in Him, and receive eternal new life. This is the greatest miracle we need and are given in this world: not a temporary improvement in circumstances, but the profound and abundant transformation of eternal new life.

Cross & Crown Penang is a Protestant Reformed Evangelical Church founded in 2019. God’s desire, and therefore the Church’s vision, is for the people of Penang and beyond to have, and to keep having, Jesus as Saviour and Lord.
