Pentagon on Death of Wagner Group Leader Yevgeny Prigozhin

Pentagon spokesman Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder on Thursday said it was "likely" that former Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin was killed when his plane crashed north of Moscow on Wednesday.

The spokesman said the Pentagon was continuing to assess the situation, but it had seen no evidence that a surface-to-air missile struck the jet of the mercenary leader who staged a short-lived rebellion against the Kremlin in late July.
