I'm changing the sparkplugs on my 2003 Dodge Dakota with a 5.9 V8 Magnum engine... or at least TRYING to. My truck has a JBA performance exhaust manifold installed which has an octopus of piping coming out of it intended to improve airflow. To that end, I'm sure it does. But what it also does is put pipes right behind the rear most sparkplugs making it almost impossible to get a socket wrench in to change them.
I had to disconnect the manifold in order to reach the plugs, an extra step made doubly difficult by the pipes also getting in the way of the mounting bolts. It really makes me very seriously consider replacing the manifold with a factory original.
So if you're considering getting a Performance exhaust for your vehicle, just make sure to look and see how it will affect other maintenance processes once installed. And make sure the trade off is worth it.
