For the Megadeth cover this year, chose one of my favourites, one of the most underrated ones, one with the backstory that got me intrigued, an evil side of Megadeth. A masterpiece by the maestro of thrash metal, with a unique composition, which all the songs from the first four had.
Total epic in all aspects, all the instruments rule it, with great solos and riffs on guitars, sprinting drums with epic parts, thought out lyrics and angry vocals and epic on bass, with all the errie basslines that make the song haunting and evil as it is. Mostly the bass follows the guitars as in most of the Megadeth songs, a thing that only a bass legend like David Ellefson could do, to keep up with Dave Mustaine and the other guitarists. It has some bass fills on its own, like in the intro and the early solo, which is my favourite bassline in the song.
Talking about the challenges, have to say, it is an easier megadeth song, especially talking about the prime years, still had some challenges, not a childs play. The song is pretty fast paced, played all along the fretboard and using all the strings, gets a while to warm up to the pace and play properly. Figured out the tabs from the isolated bass tracks available on youtube.
