What a mess. That would be my first phrase of choice to summarize this video. I came down to this mess after catching the two Tri-Rail trains at the two relatively docile crossings up the road. Here we see not one, but two SFRTA "Tri-Rail" commuter trains, both with Bombardier Bi-Level Cabcars and BEC BL36PH locomotives!
The crossing gates went down as the first train pulled into the station, then tripped the gates again, which were rising by this point, as it left. Not long after, the second train entered the circuit, preventing the gates to rise. Of course, a damn bus pulled into my shot after the second activation. Oh well.
The crossing gates themselves are your typical late-90s SFRTA signals. Almost all the equipment here is made by Safetran, including the gate motors, light frames, and signal bases. One bell is a Siemens high tone, the other an NEG. Both are electronic. The LED lights are made by Leotek and were installed between 2019 and 2021, replacing the original incandescent lenses and bulbs. Obviously, the main feature here is the massive signal bridge made by Harmon. These are ubiquitous, though not endemic, to Florida.
