Buddhism in Sikkim is a Buddhism documentary film in three parts that takes you on a journey through the fascinating story of Buddha's life, his teachings, Buddhist practices, the emergency of two sects -- Theravada and Mahayana, and the coming of Buddhism to Sikkim via Tibet in 15th-16th centruy. For Sikkim Buddhists, the ultimate goal is to reach Buddhahood, a stage beyond Nirvana and the path is through six 'paramitas' or the transcedental precepts and practices of virtues - generosity, morality, perseverance, forgiveness, concentration and wisom. It is not easy to become a monk, who has to undergo nine year of hard training in a monastery.
