Hoorn, Netherlands is a beautiful historic city located in the province of North Holland, right on the shores of the Markermeer lake. Founded in the 14th century, Hoorn rose to prominence during the Dutch Golden Age as a major port city and an important base for the Dutch East India Company (VOC).

Today, Hoorn is known for its charming old town, cobblestone streets, harbor filled with historic ships, and well-preserved architecture from the 17th century. The city offers a perfect mix of history, culture, and waterfront views. Hoorn also has a strong connection to exploration history—Cape Horn (Kaap Hoorn) in South America was named after this very town!
