During a recent family vacation, I carved out a little time to rent a bike and explore the trails near the beautiful coastal town of Half Moon Bay. This was a big ride - 25 miles, 3000+ feet of climbing and 5000+ feet of descending!
The bulk of the ride was in El Corte de Madera Creek Preserve, and Purisima Creek Redwood Preserve, which offer hilly forests dominated by towering Coastal Redwoods and Douglas Firs. The forests are steep and majestic, a great setting for a bike ride.
In between I found an 1860-year-old Redwood named Methuselah, screamed down some windy forested and canyon roads, and ended up on the edge of the Pacific Ocean!
