This event will be presented by historians Liz Gillis and Cathy Scuffil (DCC Historian-in-Residence), hosted online by Dolphin’s Barn Library.
There will be a video which will explore the extraordinary events and stories of this turbulent time in Ireland’s history. The public will be able to walk through the streets and laneways of some of Dublin 8’s historic and fascinating locations.
Episode 1 will be shown by Dolphin’s Barn Library Wed 22 September 2021, with an introduction by historian Liz Gillis and Dublin City Council Historian-in-Residence Cathy Scuffil.

WITNESS TO THE REVOLUTION Episode 1 - The Cooney Sisters
In this four part online series, presented by historians Liz Gillis and Cathy Scuffil we will
explore the extraordinary events and stories of this turbulent time in Ireland’s history.
We’ll walk through the streets and laneways of some of Dublin 8’s historic and fascinating
locations, we’ll visit the iconic buildings and landmarks that hold our nation’s past and
how the next generation can be proud of their heritage.
The Cooney Sisters were three Irish sisters, known for their involvement in Irish
Nationalism through the people who lived in and visited their house leading up to the
1916 Easter Rising. Historian Liz Gillis explores just how significant their actions were.
