Porous bulk materials such as foam or fiberglass are cost effectively used as a sound absorber for many industrial applications.
Due to their two phase states - solid and pores - poroelastic theory is well utilized to implement the acoustic model to predict sound absorption or sound transmission loss.
This slide briefly presents the poroelastic theory for Acoustics and provides the model to predict a sound absorption coefficient, which is coded in MATLAB.
