There's more evidence of the devastating impact the coronavirus pandemic is having on business and the economy. The retailer Next has warned that sales could drop by 40%. Others have said thousands of high street shops could permanently close.
Barclays Bank has reported a substantial drop in profits and said that the cost of people defaulting on loans could be more than £2 billion.
Meanwhile the United States, which is the world’s biggest economy, has recorded the worst growth figures in a decade.
