接下来给你们讲一个缘分的事情。

释迦牟尼佛的时代有一个村落，这个村庄的人都非常铁齿。什么叫铁齿？就是怎么样也敲不动，不肯相信佛法的。你去跟他说信佛好，他总讲出一堆道理，就是铁齿——牙齿像钢铁一样，不信善恶报应，要度他们可以说非常非常地不容易。释迦牟尼佛就嘱咐目犍连尊者去跟他们说法，去度他们。目犍连，大家知道，有神通的。佛陀有十大弟子在身边，很厉害的。果然，目犍连尊者一去，一跟他们说佛法，他们很欢迎，很能信受，马上接受，之后那个村落的人全部信佛了。

弟子们非常迷惑：“佛陀，为什么目犍连尊者他去就行，佛陀您去都不行？目犍连他什么缘分？”佛陀很喜欢跟别人讲过去的因果，就告诉他们：过去，目犍连尊者曾是一个樵夫，有一天在山上捡柴的时候，惊动了树上的蜜蜂，全部飞起来，那些蜜蜂非常生气，一个个要咬人一般。樵夫就跟这些蜜蜂讲：“你们不要生气，你们都有佛性的，将来你们也能成佛，以后我得道的时候，我先来救度你们。”（我告诉你们，你们家里如果有很长的一堆蚂蚁在爬，你跟它讲话，就真的爬走了，你们不要以为啊……都有佛性的，不要小看众生啊。）这样过了几世之后，那位樵夫已经在释迦牟尼佛的座下修行开悟，证果得道——就是目犍连尊者。那些蜜蜂因为在同一个蜂巢里面，都有六亲眷属的因缘。（蜜蜂如果都聚在一起，讲得小一点是蜜蜂，讲得大，不就跟人的六亲眷属一样吗？）然后做人的果报一到，它们居然在同一个村落里全部变成人出世了，大家都生出来了。由于目犍连尊者过去世跟他们结了善缘，结了这个互相得度的缘分，所以目犍连尊者一来，就受到他们村里人的欢迎，所讲的佛法，他们全部信受。大家知道什么叫信受吗？相信，接受。

我们人跟什么样的人有缘分，你就会跟什么样的人结为夫妻。有的时候做父子，做兄弟，做六亲眷属，或者做朋友，可以出生在这个地球上，有时候是同一个国家，有的是同一个城市，有的是同一个村落，甚至同一个家庭。所以你们一定要善待自己身边的人，他今天在你身边出现，一定跟你前世有缘分的，所以要善待。善待就是说，哪怕他前世对你不好，你也要跟他善待；哪怕你看到他很讨厌的，你也要给他吃点东西。这就是过去的缘分，那个缘不管是善的恶的，缘一定会会合的。恶缘也会相交，善缘也会合在一起，所以不要去管善缘恶缘，是缘分就要善待它。俗话说，夫妻是前缘，善缘恶缘，无缘不合；父子原宿债（就是爸爸跟儿子都是欠债还债的），讨债还债，有债才来。

济公活佛，你看他走到哪里他都能看到，“哎呀，你们这对夫妻，前世你是外婆，他是外孙啊。”“你这对夫妻，你煮在锅子里的那只鸭过去是你的外公……”他全能看出来。所以你们要记住，你们今天身边所有的人全部都是缘分所为，希望你们要好好地努力。

Three Golden Buddhist Practices of Guan Yin Citta

Reciting Buddhist sutras/mantras: Guan Yin Citta believes that reciting Buddhist sutras and mantras on a daily basis helps one benefit from the blessings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Recitation will not only help eliminate one’s negative karma; it will also bring strength, wisdom and inner peace, so that one can overcome all kinds of obstacles. The three major sutras and mantras recited by Guan Yin Citta followers are: the Great Compassion Mantra, the Heart Sutra, and the Eighty-eight Buddhas Repentance.

Practising life liberation: that is, Release of animals, especially those in grave danger of being killed, is a popular practice performed by all schools of Buddhism. Guan Yin Citta believes that setting animals free helps one cultivate compassion towards all beings, and deepens the understanding that all living beings are all interdependent.

Making great vows: When one makes a vow, he or she will be motivated to fulfill the vow. The vow then becomes very strong energy; it can overcome countless obstacles. This is especially true when one makes a vow out of compassion. Seeing the suffering and hearing the cries of sentient beings, Bodhisattvas bring forth immense compassion and vow to benefit all sentient beings.
