One of the biggest open questions in science to explain how we came to live in a world made up of ordinary matter when the fundamental physics processes we know so far predict that matter and antimatter should have been produced in almost exactly equal amounts. This talk discusses the idea of antimatter, touch on some of its practical applications and will discuss measurements the Lancaster group is making at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to try to understand this mystery. The same measurements might also reveal evidence for other missing part of our understanding of particle physics, as they give access to information about particles too massive to be made directly at the LHC.
