Santa Claus has begun his stunning Christmas journey to deliver billions of presents to children.

Father Christmas – alongside trusty reindeers Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen – departed Lapland at 9am UK this morning.

North American Aerospace Defense Command "updates" on Santa's travels around the world. Tradition began in 1955 when a child phoned the Continental Air Defense Command Operations Center asking for Santa Claus.
