Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand visits Ames, Iowa, to discuss government accountability, fiscal efficiency, and his Truth and Anti-Partisanship approach to public service. First elected in 2018, Rob is currently the only Democratic statewide officeholder in Iowa and has built a reputation for transparency and bipartisan governance.
A graduate of Brown University and the University of Iowa College of Law, Rob has dedicated his career to public service. Before becoming State Auditor, he served as an Assistant Attorney General, leading prosecutions for the Iowa Film Office tax credit scandal and the Hot Lotto fraud scandal, bringing justice in two of Iowa’s most significant financial fraud cases.
Since taking office, Rob has launched the Public Innovations and Efficiencies (PIE) Program, recognizing government agencies that save taxpayer dollars through more innovative fiscal policies. He has also upheld his nonpartisan commitment by promoting individuals who contributed to his opponents’ campaigns to senior positions in the Auditor’s Office.
