Am I Opening a Bike Shop? Restoring a Friend's Dream Bike.

So....am i opening a bike shop? Well you're gonna have to watch to find the answer to that question! With all these vintage bike projects I've had a concept on my mind for awhile now.

So when Terry reached out, who found the channel through my Reader's Ride featuring my '91 Fisher which was featured on the Radavist, asking if I had any interest in working on his 1989 Rock Hopper Comp, I jumped at the opportunity. This was his dream bike from when he worked at a bike shop back in the day & had finally acquired one recently! When he dropped the bike off with me at Traction Coffee's roasting HQ (where my bench is) we ended up talking for nearly two hours & the stories he share with me had me buzzin'.


I took the bike all the way down to the frame to do a restoration on all the bearigns which didn't look like they had ever been serviced. He had modified the cockpit but didn't love the stance - so we put some BMX style bars laced to a BMX stem in place to make the ride more upright & comfortable. When the bike all came back together I was BLOWN away by how smooth it rode!
