This film was shot, according to the monitor that appears in the film on February 20, 1984. The Macintosh computer launched on January 24, 1984. On that day the Apple Macintosh, 128k went up for sale for $2495. Today that’s just under $9000. On a personal note, I bought a computer last year and a video card to go into it and between the two it cost me $9000.
It is said that the Apple Macintosh 28K changed the world. I have to agree. Personally I still haven’t decided whether that change was good or bad. From a technological standpoint it was fantastic incredible unbelievable, and a techie’s wet dream. What the computer has done to and for our world, depending on who you talk to, can never be undone.
